Devin Vanterpool is a developing guard who brings versatility, effort, and a team-first approach to the backcourt. Known for his ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor, Vanterpool continues to grow into his role at the collegiate level while contributing to a winning program.

2024–25

As a redshirt freshman, Vanterpool appeared in 30 games off the bench for the Owls, gaining valuable experience as part of a team that made back-to-back postseason appearances. He logged 11 minutes in his debut against Indiana State and continued to provide energy and production when called upon. His best performance came in the quarterfinals of the AAC Conference Tournament against Tulane, where he recorded a career-high 12 points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field, including 2-of-3 from three-point range, and a perfect 4-of-4 effort from the free-throw line, while adding five rebounds. He finished the season with 60 points, 32 rebounds, 14 assists, six blocks, and nine steals.

2023–24

Vanterpool redshirted during the 2023–24 season, using the year to develop his game, strength, and understanding of the collegiate level.

High School

Vanterpool played for head coach Joe Arbitello at Christ The King High School, where he established himself as a reliable contributor and winner. He earned all-conference honors during both his junior and senior seasons and was part of a state championship team during his sophomore year.

Personal

Born on August 1, 2005, Vanterpool grew up in Washington, D.C. He is the son of David and Felicia Vanterpool and has one sibling, Kendel (22). His father, David, is an assistant coach with the Washington Wizards and has also coached with the Brooklyn Nets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Minnesota Timberwolves, serving as Associate Head Coach in Minnesota. David also enjoyed a professional playing career in the NBA, including the 2000–01 season with the Wizards, along with stints with the Detroit Pistons and New Jersey Nets.

Vanterpool’s hobbies include shopping, eating, watching movies and TV shows, and building furniture. His favorite movie is The Wolf of Wall Street, and his favorite TV show is The Flash. Musically, he enjoys a wide range of artists, with his current favorite song being “Slimeto” by YoungBoy Never Broke Again. He looks up to Damian Lillard as a player and competitor. His pregame routine centers on keeping things simple, making sure he gets a good meal and a shower before heading to the gym. For the season, Vanterpool’s goal is to “keep leading my team in every stat and stack wins.”
